Temat: Anglosphere is for people with full names

The Anglosphere is an OPEN group but we have our minimum requirements.

We're planning to block 'hidden profiles' from posting, as such solution has recently been made possible in GL and many of us are in favour, including myself.

(They will still be able to read everything that is written here)

What's your opinion?

The idea behind it is not to reduce the number of people in this group. On the contrary - I believe it might attract additional members.

Gee, in that case it's time for me to say "goodbye".

As long as GL allows hidden profiles excluding them from OPEN groups is simply a discrimination. Becasue hidden profile is not agianst the rules of GL
many people can have different reasons for hiding their profile. So before you exclude them maybe it's worth asking some of them why are they hidded?

Different thing if the group is closed.

Becasue I have a reason for hidden profile. It means I will not come out, right? Otherwise I would not have hidden profile.

Ilter - but the question is whether this feature is supposed to be used in OPEN groups.

Closed groups is a completely different matter. closed group is like a club. An owner decided who may come and who may not. Like - guys with yellow ties are not allowed.
But can you do the same in a bar at the airport? Can you say - I'm not serving guys with yellow ties?

You do have the right but can you use your right?

Rights given are to be used in a reasonable way.
And if I remeber well founder of this group - Warren for a short time (for his own reasons) also had a hidden profile. So you would exclude Warren as well?

i disagree, i really don't care and i don't want anglosphere to be a closed group, i think it gets a bit too serious as i can't see any offensive posts or anything from these profiles. i actually find people with FULL NAMES more aggressive so...

all we want is for everybody to be treated equally. what's wrong with that?

it's about "hidden" profiles being able to view "open" profiles and not vice-versa.

this is not about some royal bloods/power hungry moderators vs. opressed, innocent, mere group members with no say.

People with hidden profiles, if they don't want to disclose their education/professional info (btw: isnt it the main reason we all here joined GL in the first place?) can leave all those fields blank.

Also let me repeat what I said before - photos are not mandatory.

Nope but could have, right? Then what?
