Open to: Eligible Polish Students
Position: Student Intern in the Public Affairs Section � American
Information Resource Center (AIRC)
Opening Date: March 23, 2009
Closing Date: April 24, 2009
Work Hours: 4 hours/5 days per week (2 interns working ˝ time � 2.5 full days each or half a day each for 5 days)
Duration: through end of Fall Semester 2009 (with possible extension through spring semester)
Note: All applicants must be of Polish citizenship and meet the required definition of student as provided in the application materials to be eligible for consideration.
The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw is seeking an individual for the position of Student Intern in the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy.
Major Duties or Projects:
* Updating Embassy website as directed by American Information Resource Center (AIRC) staff, IO and AIO. This will make up about 90% to 95% of the interns� time in the office. They will also be given more limited opportunities to assist with other AIRC functions, including research assistance with Public Affairs Section�s cultural and press programs and events, attending embassy events, outreach to students, research on various topics, assistance with the graphic design of posters and leaflets, and providing logistics assistance with the graphic design of posters and leaflets, and providing logistics assistance for embassy events.
Qualifications Required
* The preferred candidate would be a student of a Technical University, political science, international relations, American Studies or journalism in the 2nd-5th year of study.
* Familiarity with computers essential. Prior website design experience is highly desired. At least basic knowledge of the technical aspects of the Internet, basic or better html experience, and basic or better knowledge/experience with PhotoShop and other Adobe products. Some experience with graphic design;
* Computer literacy: Word, Excel, MS Outlook � obligatory, general knowledge of graphic programs would be a plus, Internet, html, graphics software experience are highly desired;
* Fluent English and Polish; good interpersonal and writing skills are essential
* The best candidate should be technically-oriented, patient, and willing to work on repetitive data entry tasks related to web updates.
