Newcastle Utd destroyed by Liverpool at St. James' Park with two goals from Gerrard (31',66), one form Hyppia (36'), Babel (50') and Alonso from pan. in 77th min.
Edgar scored for Newcastle just before the half time whistle but the hole game looked like one-way traffic. Newcastle's defense was hopeless. They lost only 5 goals thanks to Shay Given, he made at least seven really good saves.
I'm not a great fan of Liverpool but I have big respect for Gerrard and his play.

So, after this win Liverpool took four-point lead at the top of the table. And the table looks like this

Arsenal 1-0 Portsmouth thanks to 'great' goalkeeping from David James
Fulham 2-2 Chelsea two goals from Lampard (50',72'), Fulham got the equalizer on 89 min (Dempsey)
Manchaster plays with Middlesbrough tonight, they still have 3 games in hand

The Fiesta Bowl is starting. Big game. I usually can not watch sports
for more than 5 minutes but I think it'll be fun. TCU has the best
defense in the country, Boise State and tricky offense.

Here comes baseball.

Baseball has been a fun way to travel for me. It's very fun to play it. But I'm not defensive about it.

Let's face it. Watching baseball is like watching paint dry (if you don't have a personal interest in the game). My brother was telling me that someone used a stopwatch to measure the "action," or when something was happening in a game. A typical game is 2.5 or 3 hours long. In this "study" the ball was in play for a total of four minutes throughout the duration.

The Japan Sumo Association has a gambling scandal. Is the Sumo culture collapsing? Uh-oh.

There around 1000 in that group. They live in "stables," about 50 wrestlers to a stable. They do everything together, eat, train, etc. in these stables. They train in mornings and nap in the daytime; that's how they get that distinctive Sumo physique. That's how it spread, all that time on their hands and in a closed society. They started with cards and they ended up betting on baseball for the big money, and organized crime hooked them (it's a prestigious thing for the syndicates to have them). A bookie handicaps games and sends them via email in shorthand text. Then they bet with their phones. One guy was the equivalent of 400,000 USD over his head.

The Iriquois lacrosse team is being banned entry to the U.K. for a tournament. They're camping out in JFK waiting for appeals.

The Iriquois helped to invent Lacrosse 500 years ago, from what I understand. The UK government is refusing to accept their tribal passports for entry.

Who do they think they are? The Iriquois, I mean. That was stupid.. Heroically stupid. Let some Bedouins form an equestrian team and gain entry there using some customary handshake?

Watching Ruch Chorzow - Austria Vienna on http://atdhe.net with an English commentator. Other than totally butchering every single name (because it's hard to do research nowadays), he just referred to one of the players as "Czechoslovakian". Plain dumb.

President Reagan was telling an anecdote about his old radio broadcast days. He was a commentator for one of the college football networks and they were locally popular. He was announcing a long touchdown run when he realized he was announcing the wrong player's name. That would show in the next day's paper. "Jones is at the 50! 45 40 35 30!, 25, 20 15!"...then he suddenly realized it was 'Jackson' carrying the ball: "Jones flips the ball to Jackson! Touchdown, Jackson!!!"

That's my own list of "correct" selections. I might give you gymnasts as a replacement for volleyball. Good point. Figure skaters? My sister is a better athlete - even while constantly checking to see if her nails are dry - than the best figure skater in the universe. :)))
