Alpha Directorate LLC is a brand new, exciting new startup; a well-funded, high-tech company located in Los Angeles, California. The software we develop is licensed under the Open Source (MIT) license. However, we have created a solid business model and monetization plans. Free software does not mean zero revenue.

We are now hiring a development team for full-time, remote work – with a possibility of future relocation to Los Angeles. We are looking for passionate, talented and dedicated developers to join us. POSITION DESCRIPTION

If hired, you will become a lead developer and a community team leader (front- and back-end developers, designers, testers, support team, etc.).

• Primary responsibility. You will be architecting, designing and implementing PHP software; using a simplified Agile SCRUM dev. process.
• Secondary responsibility. Some front-end work will be needed. However, only basic UI elements are expected. No artworks, no sophisticated designs.
• Code reviews. As we grow our team, software reviews will become essential. You will be responsible for reviewing code or coordinating code reviews.
• Teamwork. You will report directly to the founder. We believe in working closely together; talking and exchanging ideas. You won't feel isolated.
• Remote work. You'll work from the comfort of your home. You set your own hours. We don't control you. Only the results are important, not the hours.
• Time zones. Occasional meetings will be necessary. Due to the time zone difference, late afternoons in PL (mornings in LA) will need to happen.

REQUIREMENTS

MANDATORY TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
• PHP. You should have strong PHP experience and skills. We appreciate clean code design, use of best practices, OOP and design patterns, when possible.
• WP Plugins. Ability to extend and create WP plugins. You will be developing complex customized extensions that will become the core of our system.
• Server Admin. We don't require a specialist knowledge. But you do need to have some basic LAMP server administration skills to get the job done.
• Front-end technologies: JQuery, Ajax, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3. You should be able to read, review code and make modifications to presentation layer.
• Responsive web design. You don't need to be an expert. Native mobile apps will soon follow. But for initial release, the UI must adapt to different screens.

MANDATORY COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
• English language. Good working knowledge is important. All communications are in English. It is the only language we use.
• Communication skills. Ability to write clearly. English grammar errors are okay. But clarity and fluency of all written communications is a must-have.
• Teamwork-Leadership. You will be interacting with your team: guide them, mentor them, keep them motivated and happy. This work should be fun!

OPTIONAL TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

• Atlassian Toolchain. We are great fans of the Atlassian toolchain. If you have experience in it, or know how to write add-ons, that's a plus!
• WordPress. We use WP not so much for blogging, but as a Rapid Application Development platform to deploy cool ideas on top of the WP layer.
• Cryptocurrency. Familiarity with Bitcoin wallet integration and development would be awesome. Of course, this can be learned on the job.
• WebRTC. If you know, or if you are interested in this technology, it may be helpful. But again, you can learn the job.
• Git. We use Git (on Bitbucket) for our source control. Even if you are not an expert in Git, you should be. And if you don't know it, you'll learn. It's easy.
• Formal Education. A degree in computer science is a very nice, but not mandatory. What really counts is your PHP knowledge, experience and skills.
