Po długich rozmowach klaruje mi się wyjazd do pracy w RPA.
Chciałbym wiedzieć na co zwrócić uwagę w umowie o pracę żeby po wylądowaniu w Johannesburgu nie zdziwić się za mocno realiami prawnymi i socjalnymi w RPA.
Jak wygląda kwestia uregulowań prawnych: ubezpieczeń, godzin pracy, opieki zdrowotnej, urlopów itd...

Johannesburg is a BIG area. With MANY suburbs.
Public transport is almost non existant.

When you land in SA (Johannesburg) your first option would be to rent a car. AVIS, HERTZ, and similar car rentals offer a long term (monthy) rental options. Try to contact the directly. I hired a car over the internet and was bound by that contract, although a walk-in option was cheaper.
South Africans do not use the internet as much we do in Poland. Business is more personal (telephonically) or face to face; get a contact person you can ask for.

As for accommodation, the best option would be to find rentals closer to where you will work. Some people travel over 100km per day (or more) to and from work.

The northern suburbs are more preferrable, try the http://iol.co.za classified section for rentals, although you should see what you're renting berfore paying any money. Try the DON apartments for a short term rental, or the City Lodge type cheap hotels (depending on your budget).

To buy a 2nd hand car, also check the local papers, and the reputable dealers (Toyota/VW are very reputable in SA)....as there are Toyota and VW plants in SA.

The price of a 2nd hand car depends on condition....

The labour laws in SA are generally very good. Just make sure you read your contract.
