Job description

Purpose of the function:
Supervising and providing necessary support for the processing and co-ordination of all transaction reporting. This includes: traditional general accounting functions like journal maintenance, accounts payable, cash disbursement, monthly and year-end closing, preparing all tax returns. All activity should be consistent with timely and accurate reporting according to corporate policy.

Reports to: Finance Manager

Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing, implementing and monitoring control systems, which safeguard the company’s assets and financial condition, in line with company’s policies and procedures.

• All aspects of accounting, ensuring that the financial goals of the company are met, returns on assets and return on capital employed are optimised.

• Maintaining financial statements and underlying records, which properly record all transactions in accordance with company’s, fiscal and statutory requirements, being accountable for issuing required and contacts with local tax authorities.

• Providing overall counsel to the Finance Manager; produce financial information that is useful, clear and decision-oriented, based on accurate, timely and consistent accounting records.

• The Chief Accountant as ultimate local head for the Accounting Department, is responsible for the motivation, evaluation, compensation, selection, training and career development of the staff of his functional areas.

• Must be fluent with current accounting practices and concepts, as they are applied by both company’s and the market and in fulfilling local legal and statutory requirements, keeping current on applicable technologies and practices.

• Main outside contacts include tax authorities, banks, insurance brokers, auditors and vendors.

Requirements:

• University degree or postgraduate qualification in finance/ accounting
• Minimum 5 years experience, advantage western experience ideally if linked with FMCG sector.
• Competence in all accounting relevant technical skills and in most finance essentials relating to the Polish statutory environment
• SAP experience preferable
• Strong people management experience
• Hands-on personality
• High level of communication & negotiation skills
• Demonstrated readiness to work in multi-national environment.
• Proactive self starter, able to deal cross functionally on day to day basis
• Strong analytical skills
• Team player
• Very good of written and spoken English
