BEIJING, Oct, 2 (Xinhua) -- China's exports and imports of electronic products slowed down in the first eight months, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Information Industry.
Exports of electronic products in the Jan.-August period rose 26.2 percent year on year to 276.4 billion U.S. dollars, about 36 percent of China's total exports, but the growth rate was 11.7 percentage points lower than the same period last year.
Imports reached 213.8 billion U.S. dollars, up 20.1 percent, compared with 34.3 percent in the same period a year ago.
Foreign-owned enterprises contributed 67.3 percent of China's exports of electronic products, while Sino-foreign joint ventures accounted for 16.5 percent.
The processing trade continued to take a lion's share of the exports, contributing 84.5 percent.
