Temat: Fake Identities and Hidden Profiles

I've noticed this applies to some of the members of Goldenline in general and Anglosphere in particular.

Sorry, can't understand it. I mean, I could have registered as Zbyszek Boloks and either hidden my profile or uploaded a photo of a grazing cow, but somehow I resisted the temptation and plunged in as good old Steve Jones.

Clearly some people feel that there would be some kind of comeback if they were to do so. I assure you, there isn't.

How stimulating would the whole thing be if it was a bunch of hidden profilers chatting to a bunch of sock puppets (I believe that's the terminology)?

Isn't part of the enjoyment the fact that we're sharing views with real people?

Why do some hide behind a mask? what are you afraid of? Saying sth stupid? Phone tapping? Stalking? Paparazzi mobs hanging around your doorstep? Excessive fanmail?

Please enlighten me.

Regarding the picture on my profile, it's a famous Portsmouth footballer.

I put up the club crest in celebration of Pompey's victory against Man U, but was told to remove it by goldenline management.

As I'm rather stubborn, I replaced it with something Portsmouth related.

I don't see why people can't have whatever they want as their icons.

As for my name - well it's me.

Do you suspect anyone on Anglosphere as being a sock puppet, and would you 'out' them if you knew?

The only out and out sock puppet I can think of is Aneta Karenina or whatever the hell his/her name is... that Canadian bloke with amazing communication skills. You know. But he/she isn't on Anglosphere.

There are false names and hidden profiles, though.

I did ban one poster with a hidden profile because she refused to tell me who she was.

- Open profiles

Real names - sure, in my opinion it's a must. But open profiles - it's hard to say. Maybe some people doesn't wanna know their bosses to find them here, posting during work hours? ;)

Yeah - perhaps some kind of fear underlines it. Perhaps some kind of arrogance. Maybe they're secret people secretly scouting new talent. Secret agents with secret faces.

yea, I can definitely see how some profiles that I've come across are total crap...

whatever, I'm really not going to lose sleep over some perv with sociopathic tendencies pretending to be the person that they are never going to live up to...

I really don't think it's fear or arrogance but rather it reminds me of a high school type situation, where you got the cool kids and the nerds and this is a person that doesn't fit into neither category, creates a bunch of fake profiles to make themselves feel liked... dunno, I may be reaching, but this is as good of an explanation as any hahahaha...
By the way, this is the kid that you should worry about, cause next outburst, he will be the one shooting up the classroom, or banning people.

Well, maybe some people are affraid for their bosses find out they are not working, or something... Hidding profile is also a reason for some people's other halves not to find out they are flirting (or more) with other people (like one woman I know - she removed her real profile and made another, fake one).
Some of the people might also be embarassed by being members of groups like "Sex", "Pikantnie", "POWAZNI", or even "flirt". And they don't want their colleagues find out...
That's what I think :)

My profile is real, not-hidden, and the photo is also mine, so I don't understand it either...

I joind it, because my friend created it... and it can be funny sometimes ;)))
And there are probably over thousand of members being POWAZNI.
