Can I make a suggestion?

Given that this group is about business English... could we write in English here?

One general remark from my side; adjectives like "English, Polish" should be written with a capital case.
Good we are here to practice ;).

It happens that I know it. However, it's just more time efficient to type using small letters. Didn't you notice people on GL starting their sentences from a non-capitalized letter?!

Lizzy

Hey guys,
I wanted to avoid this confusion
but basically I wanted to let everyone know
what are the terms and conditions of this group
and why we are here
to avoid any misunderstandings.

Now that we have it settled
I don't see any problems to start our
discussions in purely english,

I look forward to talking with all of you
and sharing valuable information,

Keep checking this group as there is some
cool stuff on the way,

Good suggestion,

Now we have a lot of rules in Polish. Maybe we should start some topics and discuss them? Any ideas, problems, suggestions ;)?

The fact that people use on GL “non – capitalized letters” or rather low cases doesn’t mean its right and we should do this same. And to be honest, no I haven’t noticed that.
I really do not see what savings of time can bring skipping capital letters!
I believe this group is about improving and enjoying English so I’m looking forward to this! You take things too personally.

Yes, I agree to learning, and other people correcting my potential mistakes. However, I'd prefer it (the correction) to have a different tone. Instead of saying: "Hahahaha, you fail! I'm better than you!" or things like that, you could say it in a different way, so I would not take it personally.

Cheers!

AND I SAY WHO CARES
IF WE WRITE LIKE THIS
OR
LiKe this :)

Unless it makes sense, of course,

Relax, enjoy life,
don't be too serious about yourself.

More stuff soon, I got my hands full at the moment
but don't worry updates will come.

You are going too far in your assumptions. How many lines you can read from one sentence!? Beside as I said it was general remark not personal! This is my last post on this subject as I do not understand your attitude and I am not going to go into further discussions.

lower-case letters, not: low cases

Dear Lizzy and Gosia,
As an English trainer/teacher/fun coach I have got to agree with Gosia that sloppy spelling won't help You to improove (pls note written and English).
Which is also Gosia's problem (correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you wanted to write 'God', but wrote 'Good' - this way the sentence has no sense) and grammar - "How many lines you can read from one sentence!?" your 'how many' indicates a question and word order an affirmative sentence...
Sylwia is right as to the term 'lower-case' - I shall add no more on the issue...
As to the use of lower-case on the net - yes it is used, both in e-mails, sms messages and less frequently on blogs - but if you want to be professional - you should avoid it - some especially British speakers get touchy - note the sketch from Monty Python's Life of Brian - 'Romans go Home'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIAdHEwiAy8
I hope You enjoy the sketch (consider that Monty Python loves to laugh at the weak points of the British) - it helps to wear off stressMaciej Durczewski edytował(a) ten post dnia 27.07.09 o godzinie 21:52
