Temat: Books and they way we consume media.

Times are changing for both sides:
manufacturers (companies) and consumers, no doubt about it.

I just got myself a device that lets you insantly get the latest books
and read your daily newspaper whenever and wherever you want - Amazon Kindle.

Now some of you may say: what is the difference, digital vs. paper books?
Well there is one big difference, physical. Instead of 50 books on shelves you can get
3,4 times that without ever noticing it.
But its also about the availability:
now, you are the master of choice, getting the stuff that you want instantly,
no more lines, pre-orders, getting to the bookstore and finding its not there yet.

So if you are in the publishing business, from journalism/pr-side think twice before
hitting enter and publishing something, as in the short future people will have a choice to skip it.

There is the fear of the stupid "Google", "Wikipedia" generation here
but I think overall that should improve the work of writers,
setting new standards by impatient consumers,
at least that are my impressions being one of them.

Any thoughts?

well, it sounds great while you are on a business trip.....the smaller the luggage is the better....
but for me reading a book is a pure pleasure...bubble bath, glass of wine and a good book....I spend most of my day in front of the screen and in the evening I want to feel the touch of the paper if you know what I mean....
but having this device and reading the news while being on a train for example - great idea!

I'm of a similar opinion. Feeling the paper while reading a book is quite the major thing for me in the process itself. But you are right. I know something about overloaded luggage at the airport :) Going back from England I usually bring too many of these, or they are just too heavy :) Doesn't matter, the result is the same :)
