Job Description – Genomics Data Scientist/Bioinformatician
Location: Warsaw, Poland

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Bioinformatician to join our Genomics Data Science team in Warsaw. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working as a quantitative researcher identifying and interpreting novel correlations within large, multi-dimensional life science and healthcare datasets. These will include functional and clinical genomics as well as deep phenotypic data such as imaging, longitudinal electronic medical records, clinical assays and other data types. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in creating insight and value from complex data, a good knowledge of biology and a passion for identifying and answering questions that help us solve real-world problems and build the best products.

Responsibilities
Solving real-world problems by using appropriate statistical, AI/machine learning and constraint logic techniques on available data
Performing biological interpretation of results produced by bioinformatic and AI tools
Driving the collection, cleaning and verification of new data and the refinement of existing data sources
Analyzing, interpreting and communicating the results of customer projects and internal product experiments
Testing new algorithms and products and working closely with product designers and engineers to identify and answer important product questions

Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics or closely related field, or 3+ years’ experience in a relevant role
Extensive experience solving genome analysis problems using analytical workflow approaches
Performing biological interpretation of results produced by bioinformatic and AI tools
Experience creating bioinformatic tools in order to conduct biomedical research.
Proficiency with the use of publicly available data repositories (i.e. NCBI, Ensembl, EMBL, and DDBJ)
Proficiency with the systems biology tools like: Cytoscape, Copasi, SBML or CellDesigner
Knowledge of systems biology, pharmacology, oncology, immunology, genomics would be a strong plus
Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data using a range of statistical, AI and Machine Learning techniques
A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard biomedical questions with data
A flexible analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision
Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
Expert knowledge of a complex data analysis tool such as R, Matlab, Octave or SAS
Fluency with at least one scripting language, ideally Python
Familiarity with relational databases & SQL and/or non-SQL systems such as MongoDB/OrientDB would be an advantage
Experience working with large NGS data sets, experience working with distributed computing tools and systems such as AWS would be a plus
