Verbal Victory was a proud host to another meeting in Toastmasters tradition on 4th April. This evening our club focused on finding new exciting ways to accommodate guests. The meeting began with Toastmaster of the Evening, Krystian Rother, comparing a well-run club meeting to a full meal at a fancy restaurant– Table-Topics as entrees, prepared speeches as the main course and evaluations as the soup or exquisite dessert. Later during the meeting the audience was asked what they would do to make either their child’s or their friend’s romantic interest feel comfortable at the dinner table. This was very much on the subject of introducing guests to TMI and Verbal Victory.
The agenda that evening continued with Table Topics session led by Daniel Medalka. Daniel prepared some of the hottest questions for our guests – describe the perfect Toastmasters meeting, talk your old friend/ a guest into coming to the meeting and taking part in Table Topics among them. The atmosphere became tropical, but fortunately we were cooled down by the Ice-Breaker of the evening. Anna Hołubowicz broke the Ice with everyone speaking about her childhood in a small mountain village and the smell of baking bread that brought back fond memories.
After the break the Evaluation session took place led by Tomasz Puton as the General Evaluator. There was a lot of attention put on eye-contact in the Body-Language report with detailed explanations of specific techniques. Later two Table-Topics speakers tied for the first place in the contest, Kasia Korona and Julian Szumowski. The word of the Day contest featuring the word surmount also had a tie for the winning position between Tomasz Puton and Jerzy Zientkowski.
This was a particularly important evening as the vacancy for the Vice-President of Public Relations was announced in the Club Business section. Joanna Chmiel took the position and the executive committee is thrilled to have her on board with them. [u]We’re looking forward to the upcoming speeches and evaluations contest in Warsaw on the 16th April.Justyna Hołubowicz edytował(a) ten post dnia 08.04.11 o godzinie 13:38
