Temat: I Love Jamaica

I can't figure why but the Polish spelling of the word Jamaica is Jamajka. It makes no difference whatsoever for the sound it makes when pronounced in Polish. It sounds the same with "i" as it does with "j" to my ears. Unfortunately, when you attempt to pronounce the Polish spelling as if it was read in English, it sounds awful. Is there a way to submit a proposal for a change in spelling to be accepted and respected officially? L.
