"American Pop" (1981)

First time we've rented this movie, we ended up watching it six times over, and over and over again.. it's simply stunning! The music used, the idea, the over all imagery is simply amazing. I recommend this flick to anyone who is interested in how the American Pop music was born... and how it's changed through out the years.
Although it's animated, it is moving and really deeply involving. A true masterpiece. Covers, funk, jazz, soul, punk, rock, acid rock and much much more...

I'm not deep into Joy division so the only thing I could say about the movie is that the story was, well, sad and the music magical

I saw Control in Wroclaw during the ENH festival - it did make an enormous impression on me - although I admit, that I only skimmed on Joy Division music so far.

I had a friend (or it was more of a friend of a friend, nevermind) who committed suicide in similar circumstances (he suffered from depression). He was a few years older than me and played guitar and sang in an Olsztyn-based band called Misera Puella and is now a kind of (long forgotten) Olsztyn legend. His music and lyrics were heavily influenced by JD. That was one of the reasons why I went to see this film.

I was moved by Sam Riley's acting, he did a very good job. And to contrast such youthfull looks with sudden death, it made me cry. I've known of many rock stars having committed suicide, but usually drugs were involved and I don't recall it happening at such young age. The movie had an absolutely massive effect on me.

I'm sure it was (pretty) true to life.

Ian was 7 years older than me.

Everything he liked I liked.

(Bowie, Roxy music, Iggy Pop then the Sex Pistols etc).

I used to wear one of those old raincoats he wore in the film.

Like myself he was a chain smoker.

Of course, he was a Northener and me a Southerner.

I guess everybody knows the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"

The music of the movie itself is not that great but I found a very nice compilation of this movie together with a nice music (not of the movie). Watch and enjoy !

Probably one of the best ways to make a dance playlist is to use Tubidy MP3 Download. In my experience this is the easiest thing a dance teacher can do for their students. I was able to find the best tracks on YouTube and download them for offline listening. It's very convenient and I encourage you to use this service. Now I have a lot of great playlists for different dances. Good luck with your dancing!

I rarely watched movies before. I thought it was a waste of time. Now, on the contrary, I try to learn the language with the help of films on the Lingopie platform, which is especially suitable for this. In addition, I found an article with japanese movies on netflix that may be useful to me in learning the language.
