Ron Howard & Brian Grazer's Imagine Television Production company is comfirming that they have sealed a deal to produce a re-imagining of Gene Roddenberry's Questor Tapes.

From Dave Itzkoff's column at the New York Times:

On Wednesday, Mr. Howard and Mr. Grazer’s Imagine Television production company said it had made a deal with Roddenberry Productions to develop a new pilot based on “The Questor Tapes,” a television series Mr. Roddenberry couldn’t quite get off the ground in 1974. As we all vividly remember, “The Questor Tapes” starred Robert Foxworth as an android whose programming is partially erased, sending him on an existential quest in search of his human creator. Though the series was originally approved by NBC (and planned for the same time slot where “Star Trek” met its demise in 1969), the network and Mr. Roddenberry fell out over creative differences, and “Questor” was shown only as a two-hour made-for-television movie.

Roddenberry Productions said it was in negotiations with Tim Minear, whose credits include “The X-Files” and “Dollhouse,” to produce the new series.
