Temat: MBA - what next?

How should look your professional development when you are already MBA graduate? Should you get a Ph. D. degree or rather learn new languages, participate in some professional associations etc. What are your ideas?

My opinion is the next step shouldn't be another degree like Ph.D. Being MBA graduate is pretty enough to improve your skills / knowledge at your present job or even at a higher position. I wish all MBA graduates to be responsible for at least part of the issues we learned at MBA. My feeligs are that it's not a "degree case" - it is a matter of your skills and experience. And of course, the main question: where are you going to? If you know the answer, just look for the best way there.

If I understood idea of MBA correctly it is education for managers (at least 3 years experience) to adjust their practical skills with knowledge about management.
I think that MBA can be successful learning experience only if you can deal with new skills and knowledge in your practice. So natural "next step" after MBA shall be continuing management - if it is possible in our current position.
Then - after we implement knowledge into practice to learn it well - we can think of building up the career.

I guess it mostly depends from what You want and what You expect in the future? What do You want to do etc... I guess You went troughout the MBA to be promoted or increase salary... not work?

I think personal development depends on individual. But I agree with above - after MBA we are supposed to put our knowledge into practice and exploit our talents. If one need PhD to do it - so be it.

In my opinion, even if you already are MBA you still should think about professional development. I agree that the most important is to implement new knowledge, check and practise new understanding of the business world. However, please keep in mind that World is changing, new knowledge comes and if you want to be up to date you should improve your knowledge. In my opinion MBA it is just the beginning of the excellent journey and adventure! As Anatoil said "It is really important to know where are you going to!"

I've seen this fraze: As Anatoil said "It is really important to know where are you going to!"
Even some of international companies do not know where to go and how. The worst thing is that they do not listen to the rules that define long term development. The money is here and now. Tommorow we will see.
Have you met such a feeling ?
I think MBA is for us, so let's improve ourselves.

I wonder what's your next step in your educational (professional) career after Ph?:) Professor?:)
As somebody said here...it's not the matter of number of papers...it's about how to use it properly in a real business environment. I am afraid that today MBA title is so spread, so popular that in a while it will mean nothing at all without the prove that you deserve it and use your MBA experience.
