WHO: Europe-wide competition for young fashion designers and fashion design students.

WHAT: the objective of the contest is to create links between European fashion training schools in addition to promoting lasting, active dialogue between students and teachers, initially on the European and later on the international level. A European jury made up of fashion journalists and designers will select a maximum of 30 finalists from all of Europe by the end of July 2008.

WHAT: the Interieur Foundation organises its nineteenth consecutive prototype competition: the INTERIEUR 08 Design Competition, formerly known as 'Design for Europe'. Centred on three thematic subjects, it focuses on new, functional, creative and contemporary prototypes. For the 19th edition of the competition the themes are working, playing and living.

WHAT: the push for bicycle use is gaining global relevance not just as a leisure activity, but as a solution to a range of problems like pollution, congestion, rising gas prices and issues surrounding community health. This competition calls for a biking accessory or add-on for existing bikes that would improve the bicycling experience and encourage more people to make biking their primary means of transport – more convenient, more enjoyable, safer and more integrated into daily lifestyles – whether it's for commuting, working, shopping, transporting, leisure or all of the above.

One Good Chair

WHAT: designers everywhere are invited to contribute their vision for a new kind of eco-chair, one that focuses first and foremost on form.
OTHER BENEFITS: a cash prize of 4,500USD will be awarded to 1 designer or shared (equally or unequally) among 2-5 designers, subject to the judges' discretion. More prizes may be available. The award is intended to support the fabrication of a prototype. Winners and select entries will be featured in Treehugger, Inhabitat, Western Interiors, and a variety of other press TBA. Select entries may be featured in Lance Hosey's forthcoming book, The Shape of Green: Aesthetics, Ecology and Design. The Director will report regularly to the Board of Management.

RWS/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition

WHO: artists.
WHAT: invitation for submissions for watercolour competition. Whether it's abstract, figurative or landscape piece, all works produced in water based mediums, watercolour, acrylic and gouache on a paper support are eligible. An exhibition of approximately 120 works will be held at the Bankside Gallery, London SE1 from 10 – 20 September. Artists can submit up to three works at regional venues throughout the UK in June.
PRIZES: £25,000 to artists who demonstrate a high level of skill and creativity.
