WHAT: to celebrate the six hundredth anniversary of French castle Château des Réaux, its owner, the poet Evgeny Yukhnytsya, welcomes participating in creation of a Modern Art Gallery in Château des Réaux castle with the topic of 'Woman's and Men's Legs in the Art of the Beginning of the Third Millennium'.
DETAILS: works should be obligatorily painted by oil (on canvas or any other material); the dimensions are starting from 12 M (61 x 38) or more (of any shape as you desire ? a rectangular shape, a circle, etc.) Artist's works should be dated and signed. A brief biography attached to the canvas is desirable. Each work should be original: copies are not accepted.
COST: the work's price is a token one, for those who accept it, of 305 Euros / 219 GBP, with the transfer of author's rights and will be included into the composition of the constantly operating exhibition in the castle or other places as well as its reproduction will appear in the catalogue of exhibition. Not selected paintings will be returned to their authors.
PRIZES: 1st Prize, award in the amount of 4,000 euros; 2nd Prize, award in the amount of 2,200 euros; 3rd Prize, award in the amount of 1,800 euros; 4th Prize, award in the amount of 1,200 euros; 5th Prize, award in the amount of 800 euros.

WHO: fashion students from an approved college, trainees or apprentices working in the headwear industry. Entries may be submitted from any country within the European Community.
WHAT: design a ladies hat. Whilst the award will be for design, that design should be capable of being manufactured in a factory or workroom for commercial sale. A sample must be submitted. One entry per student, maximum five entries per college unless prior permission has been granted. Fur felt or wool felt has to be used, although it need not be the major content of the hat. The hat must be made to fit an average head size of 57cm.
OTHER BENEFITS: prizes and awards for artwork and presentation, commercial viability, craftsmanship and innovative use of felt.

WHAT: prestigious international prize for aiming to promote the use of hand embroidered surface embellishment within fashion, costume and interiors industries. In doing so, it is hoped that contemporary design and fresh approaches can be matched up with the high quality and expertise required in the professional world. Working on the theme dimension students should investigate fashion embroidery that explores relief effects or three dimensional fashion products using embroidered techniques as a foundation or integral part. This can be in the form of relief embroidery techniques - padded or raised embroidery methods such as fabric manipulation, quilting, raised gold work techniques, raised beading techniques, found _object_s covered with thread /material, and construction processes made from embroidery alone.

WHAT: competition created to recognise, reward and celebrate the creative talent that is blossoming in Northern universities, colleges and schools. The Northern Design Competition was established in 2005 by Leeds Metropolitan University with a special interest in nurturing young talent. There are no restrictions on content, technique or format. The Worshipful Company of Pewterers

WHAT: Pewter Live is a pewter design competition run by The Worshipful Company of Pewterers. There are four categories with design briefs and students can enter as many categories with as many pieces as they wish. The categories are architectural fixtures and fittings, fashion - the total look, fashion jewellery and accessories and decorative arts.

The Worshipful Company of Feltmakers

WHO: fashion students from an approved college, trainees or apprentices working in the headwear industry. Entries may be submitted from any country within the European Community.
WHAT: design a ladies hat. Whilst the award will be for design, that design should be capable of being manufactured in a factory or workroom for commercial sale. A sample must be submitted. One entry per student, maximum five entries per college unless prior permission has been granted. Fur felt or wool felt has to be used, although it need not be the major content of the hat. The hat must be made to fit an average head size of 57cm.
OTHER BENEFITS: prizes and awards for artwork and presentation, commercial viability, craftsmanship and innovative use of felt.

Hand & Lock 2008

WHO: students of embroidery, design, arts, surface textiles, costume, fibres, interiors, fashion and textiles throughout the world whoare in full or part time education on or before the 31 of March. Research students are not eligible to enter.
WHERE: London.
WHAT: prestigious international prize for aiming to promote the use of hand embroidered surface embellishment within fashion, costume and interiors industries. In doing so, it is hoped that contemporary design and fresh approaches can be matched up with the high quality and expertise required in the professional world. Working on the theme dimension students should investigate fashion embroidery that explores relief effects or three dimensional fashion products using embroidered techniques as a foundation or integral part. This can be in the form of relief embroidery techniques - padded or raised embroidery methods such as fabric manipulation, quilting, raised gold work techniques, raised beading techniques, found objects covered with thread /material, and construction processes made from embroidery alone.
