The last two years have seen an explosion of new database and appliance technologies to accelerate query performance for decision support applications. These new technologies promise to open up new possibilities for the kinds of applications and ad hoc access that BI teams can offer to their most data-hungry users. This session will examine the playing field for new query acceleration technologies—including appliances, columnar databases, high-performance clusters, and in-memory analytics to name a few—and outline how they enable organizations to move beyond general reporting to true, interactive analytics.
