Where I live now I pay for everything, literally every effing thing, and I don't feel like I'm getting much in return. Where I lived last... hmm the highway toll.
2. What kinds of things do you do to brighten your mood during the colder and darker months?
Nothing. Really, the fall/winter depression never gets me.

Probably less than I think I have. But definitely more than I;m aware of.

Catholic Church (which in Poland is a kind of a "government service").

Physical exercises, hot chocolate, baking cakes, sleeping.

I'm not vegetarian but I don't enjoy eating animals. And I'm rather conservative gourmet (e.g. no seafood), so not many.

An autobiography or memoirs when I retire. Maybe from the feminist point of view - about a struggle for human rights in Poland.

Any regular payment the state gives the industry to 'secure' jobs. As for the recent oh so praised substitutes for short term employment showed, the industry welcomes any money with open arms, without creating or securing jobs eventually.

It would be ZUS. Our health service do not provide what they should, anyway. I'd prefer a fund which I can personally chooose. I can already do it, I know, but still I'm sending lots of money to ZUS. And their black hole in budget is growing...

tough one, I'd rather refer to decrease my taxes, and in consequence, decrease the funny spending squad ( parliament.
However I know there are countries of constant prosperity (UAE) having no VAT or income tax...and the public services there are way better than in our "social" Republic.

In Winter I go on holiday. Traveling to much warmer places.That works well on me. 2 weeks in Mexico can make you able to do Miracles( both here and there) :D

National Insurance Contribution - I believe I could manage those money better way.

Drink, play guitar, spend time at gym / swimming pool. Honestly , my mood is not weather influenced too often.

I love that one! Dolphin steaks, tuna, whale stew, Robin skewers, mole pate :-) Too many to list them all. Chicken, cod, perch pike, bas, etc.

In this case, I'd go for reducing all of them, so it doesnt hurt as much as we do pay for them..still receive what we do. Unless the services are better..

I want to pay more tax not less - so that the services will be better.

If I may be so bold, I would argue that beyond a certain minimum standard cut-off point, the demand increases to overwhelm any amount of money allocated to anything. Also, think about the sheer quantity of money squandered. Throwing money at something doesn't necessarily make a service better.
