Management of a new Master Study Program: Social Informatics
I have proposed and implemented the introduction of a new Master (graduate) study programme at PJIIT: “Social Informatics”. The proposal has been submitted and accepted as a grant by the EEA and Norwegian financial mechanism. The study programme, created in collaboration with the INFOMEDIA institute at the University of Bergen, is a unique combination of informatics and the social sciences. Students who enroll should be graduates of a social sciences bachelor. They will study informatics starting from basics for two years, while at the same time working on an interdisciplinary Master project. The graduates of “Social Informatics” should be qualified to work as market analysts that utilize the Internet and information technology, analysts who participate in teams that prepare social IT applications (such as Web2.0 applications), or as media specialists who can plan, organize and execute an Internet marketing campaign. From the beginning, Social Informatics collaborates with industry partners in the preparation of the study programme. For more information, see: http://www.pjwstk.edu.pl/?kat=242

Conference on Social Informatics
I have planned and organized the First International Conference on Social Informatics (SocInfo’2009). The conference was fully sponsored by a grant from the EEA and Norwegian financial mechanism. The proceedings of SocInfo’2009 have been published by IEEE CPS. The conference was organized at PJIIT and I was the main Program Chair. Next year, SocInfo’2010 proceedings will be published in the Springer LNCS series, and the conference will most likely take place in Lubljana. See: http://socinfo2009.pl

Analysis of inter-domain routing
the Polish Government’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection
I have consulted the Polish Government’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (OCCP) in a case against the Polish telecom provider TP SA, which resulted in a penalty of 75 mln PLN14 I was the main author of the professional analysis of the inter-domain routing practices of TP SA that have been used to influence the telecom market in Poland.

A team member of the European 6th Framework Program project “eGov-Bus”
2006-2009, I have been a team member of the European 6th Framework Program project “eGov-Bus”. The project has developed a dynamically adaptable information system supporting life events experienced by the citizen or business serviced by European government organizations. In the project, I have developed a distributed, scalable access control mechanism.

Researcher
In the period 2004-2007 I have participated in the research grant 3T11C00527 titled: “Models and algorithms supporting effective and fair resource distribution in complex distributed systems”. The grant was financed by the Polish Ministry of Science. In this project, I have developed methods for the design of computer and communication networks with a consideration of fairness of competing network flows. I have applied the theoretical tools developed by professor Ogryczak in a variety of contexts. I have also contributed to their development.
Suntech S.A.
Designer of information systems
From April, 2003 till September, 2005 I have work part-time for Suntech, a small company that specializes in telecommunications software, as a designer of information systems for telecom operators. Among others, I have worked on the following projects: a network design and inventory system for a large telecom operator, a Web-based customer relationship management system, a billing system for a GSM operator and a groupware system for programmers at Suntech.

Inne

• In October, 2005, I have founded a new bachelor’s specialization at PJIIT: Networks of Mobile Devices. The specialization teaches student’s wireless networks (both LAN and cellular) with a practical emphasis on programming of applications for mobile phones, wireless network configuration and security. The specialization cooperates with two companies, Psiloc and Ericsson Poland, in the didactic process. The cooperation has already resulted cooperative grant applications.
• Research work (Warsaw University, 1998) I have been a co-author of the "Survey of the Polish WWW", the first demographic survey in Poland that has used the Web.
